About the author
Mohamed Osman is a retired physician and public health specialist, originally from Somaliland and now a Canadian citizen. His extensive career spans clinical practice, public health leadership, consulting, and health analytics, including significant roles with Ottawa Public Health and Alberta Health Services. Beyond his healthcare work, Mohamed is a passionate advocate for Somaliland’s international recognition and regularly publishes commentary with the Times of Israel.
My journey and inspiration
Born in the Republic of Somaliland, I later migrated and settled in Canada. This personal migration, the profound suffering of the Somaliland people during the liberation wars, the long and persistent wait for international recognition, and even the long Canadian winters have all profoundly shaped my worldview and inspired me to share this story with the world.
